Have you ever wondered what it was like to breather underwater? Or are you thinking about doing a scuba diving course but are not sure if you will like it. This is your chance to try it out before committing to a course. You get to try out the equipment, experience breathing underwater and meet our PADI instructors and other divers.
Our PADI instructors are patient and relaxed and will make your Discover Scuba an easy and fun experience. We have a low ratio of instructor to student, often 1-1. Bring a friend or family and meet them underwater. We can even organise try-a-dives as social events for groups and clubs.
PADI Discover Scuba Diving FAQs
Yes, if you are reasonably fit and comfortable in the water. The minimum age is 10 years however young people from 8-10 years can try scuba diving on our Bubblemaker program.
You start with a short briefing session to explain how the equipment works, the key safety factors and what to expect on your first breaths underwater. You’ll have plenty of time to ask any questions and you’ll hear plenty of stories about big adventures that our instructors have had underwater. You will be given your PADI Discover Scuba diving participant’s guide which will give further details about how to start diving.
Then you will head to the pool with one of our experienced instructors. Initially you will start in the shallow end but as you gain confidence, you will quickly be swimming freely underwater in deeper water. You might be surprised how quickly you become accustomed to the equipment and the feeling of being underwater.
A Discover Scuba diving session typically lasts 2-3 hours, consisting of a briefing session, pool practice and a debrief with certificate. We can organise these on mid-week days, evenings or weekends.
The course fee is €50 or for better value and more fun, bring a friend along with you and it’s €75 for 2 people. We also offer discounts for families and groups.
If you progress onto the next level, we will deduct €50 off the course fee
You don’t need to buy any scuba diving equipment as use of all equipment is included for you to Discover Scuba. You just need to bring swim-suit and towel.
As this is an experience to try diving rather than a course, you won’t be qualified to go scuba diving after it but you will be able to decide if this is something you want to pursue. You get to try the equipment, meet some divers and talk to our PADI Instructors about the different diving courses. You have €50 credit towards your entry level course with us.
